Edit is a project that began accidentally, to create a statement against manipulated images and their involvement with body perceptions and the idea of perfection. Body image and the way it can be effected and altered by media has always been a topic that interested Darryl, whilst editing a selection of portraits Darryl became distressed at the need to airbrush particular features, questioning who has the right to decide how a person should look and what is perfect?
This collection of images displays photos within their editing phase, portraying the chosen features wished to be hidden concealed with editor paint. The images are taken within their Photoshop state, contrasting the harsh brushstrokes against the portrait subject. "Whether it's wrinkles, freckles or a flatter stomach, by hiding our real appearance what effect are we creating for our community and future generation?"
